The EU has been strengthening the unified cybersecurity regulation leading to the acceptance of NIS Directive, which has to be implemented by member countries. The creation of the regulation was called not only by the growing number of cyber incidents but by the more frequent emergence of cross-border attacks. The purpose of the directive is to establish EU-level cyber security regulation, establish a common security minimum and a common institutional system. On 10 May 2018 the regulation came into force in Hungary, according to which the official tasks of the area are performed by National Directorate General for Disaster Management, Ministry of the Interior. Organizations falling within the scope of the regulation must, after registration, take the necessary security measures by 10 May 2019.
